A DC-10 jumbo jet converted for aerial firefighting made an emergency landing at its home base here after making drops of
fire-retardant or water on a wildfire in Kern County late Monday. None of the four aboard was hurt as the big ship made it down safely at the
Southern California Logistics Airport. Mechanics were attempting to find the mechanical problem that forced the landing. The three-engine tanker was fighting the 6,000-acre White Fire when the problem occurred.
