Hamilton Sundstrand Recognized in Aviation Week Workforce Survey

WINDSOR LOCKS, Conn., Sept. 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Aviation Week has recognized Hamilton Sundstrand, a subsidiary of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX), as a leader among its aerospace and defense industry peers in employee learning and professional development.

Hamilton Sundstrand finished second to Boeing in the Professional Development/Learning category of Aviation Week's fourth annual Workforce study, which assesses where U.S.-based aerospace and defense professionals most want to work based on reader input.

According to the survey, Hamilton Sundstrand and United Technologies Corp. are leaders in the survey's Professional Development/Learning category thanks to UTC's Employee Scholar Program, which pays tuition and all related academic fees for employees pursuing advanced degrees -- even if the course of study is unrelated to their job.

"Hamilton Sundstrand and UTC take great pride in allowing employees to pursue advanced degrees in a field of their choice," said Hamilton Sundstrand President David Hess. "We encourage all of our employees to engage in lifelong learning and the UTC Employee Scholar Program makes that possible."

Hamilton Sundstrand was also recognized by the Aviation Week Workforce study in 2007, when it ranked second among aerospace and defense companies in the survey's Technological Challenge category.

With 2007 revenues of $5.6 billion, Hamilton Sundstrand employs approximately 19,000 people worldwide and is headquartered in Windsor Locks, Conn. Among the world's largest suppliers of technologically advanced aerospace and industrial products, the company designs, manufactures and services aerospace systems and provides integrated system solutions for commercial, regional, corporate and military aircraft. It also is a major supplier for international space programs.

United Technologies Corp., based in Hartford, Conn., is a diversified company providing high technology products and services to the global aerospace and building industries.
